57th Year of Durga Puja Celebration by Bhowanipur 75 Palli was Inaugurated
News Desk, News Nation 360 : The members of Bhowanipur 75 Palli have taken up the challenge to discover the theme “MANOBIK” to uplift the morale of "Chhau Dancers" (folk dance of Purulia, West Bengal) which was inaugurated today by MAMATA BANERJEE, Chief Minister of West Bengal & was attended by Firhad Bobby Hakim, Minister of Transport and Housing, Govt of WB, Kartik Banerjee, Social Activist & many others. During the inauguration ceremony, the Chhau dance was performed with the percussion instrument Dhamsa. Speaking to the media, Subir Das, Club Secretary said that they are dedicating this puja to kids & family members of Chhau artists in Purulia, donating a major share of the subscription and the state’s dole to them, along with making the premises available for them to perform and sell their goods. They have donated clothes to kids of 250 Chhau Dancers in association with Max and Arihant Enterprises on the occasion of World Daughter’s Day at Charida Village in Purulia & have also given new clothes to the family members of 'Chhau' dancers by supporting 50-odd families. This initiative is taken in keeping with the financial losses everyone is facing due to the pandemic. Many artists and craftsmen are facing financial hardships as festivals and fairs have been called off across the country amid the pandemic. They are inspired by the Hon'ble CM Mamta Banerjee and will do their bit to help at least some of them. The name 'Bhowanipur 75 Palli' is at present regarded as an emerging star amongst the leading theme pujas of south Kolkata. Incessantly for the past few years, their puja presents a new theme which has created a firm place in millions of hearts across the globe, likewise keeping the continuation going in this year 2021 their puja came up with a new line of thought “MANOBIK”, which is to be showcased through the means of their puja theme. The Bhowanipur 75 Palli puja committee has decided to come to the aid of ''Chhau'' artists of Purulia district, who have been badly hit by the lockdown. ''Chhau'', a traditional dance form, has performers retelling episodes of Ramayana, Mahabharata and the Puranas, donning
colourful costumes and masks. They will depict a small village of Purulia and will bring the government enlisted 'chhau' dancers and their families to Kolkata.
