Gandhi Colony Bharati Balika Vidyalaya Undertaken the First-of-its-kind Blue Line Campaign to Restrict Consumption of Tobacco
News Desk, News Nation 360 : Tobacco Free West Bengal Campaign organised the first-of-its-kind Blue Line Campaign, at which the students of Gandhi Colony Bharati Balika Vidyalaya participated. A Blue Line was drawn during this campaign within 100 yards of their school premises to restrict the sale and consumption of tobacco products as per Section 6 of COTPA (Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act). The Blue Line Campaign is aimed at making people aware of the adverse effects of consumption of tobacco and its products, and preventing the young generation from getting addicted to it. Under the Campaign, a Blue Line was painted 100 yards away from an educational institution’s boundary wall, indicating that it is a Tobacco free Zone. The objective of the Blue
Line Campaign is to sensitise State Government officials on the COTPA Regulations and ensure their proper enforcement. Programme Manager, Indranil Dasgupta said that they are grateful to Tapan Dasgupta, Chaiman Borough X, who has joined hands with the Tobacco Free West Bengal Campaign to make all the Educational Institutions under Borough X Tobacco Free Zones.
