Ekushey Boi Utsab will be Organised for the first time in South Kolkata
News Desk, News Nation 360 : The Ekushey Boi Utsab is going to be celebrated by the Publishers and Booksellers Guild in South Kolkata for the first time on the occasion of International Mother Language Day. KMDA In collaboration with the Jodhpur Park Festival Committee, various aspects of the Bengali language, literature and culture will be celebrated throughout the festival. As the inaugural speaker, they have invited Hon'ble Chief Minister of West Bengal and well-known author Mamata Banerjee. Prominent writer Shirshendu Mukherjee will be present as the chief guest. Special Guest Tawfiq Hasan, Hon'ble Deputy Ambassador of Bangladesh High Commission. Distinguished guests are Narsingh Prasad Bhaduri, Bani Basu, Shubhaprasanna,
Madhavi Mukherjee, Abul Bashar, Joy Goswami, Subodh Sarkar, Amar Mitra, Swapnamoy Chakraborty, Prachet Gupta, Shrijat, Jayant Dey, Bithi Chattopadhyay, Binta Roychowdhury, Abhik Majumder and others. Throughout the 7 days of the fair, there are very interesting debates and discussions on Bengali language practice, struggle for Bengali language, Bengali literature and culture. These discussions are attended by eminent geniuses established in their respective fields. There are also Bengali songs, recitations and other cultural programs almost every evening. The stalls of renowned Bengali and English book publishers of West Bengal and government-sponsored publishing houses are also present at this Ekushey Book Fair in South Kolkata. There are also books from neighbouring Bangladesh. At present, the need to preserve one's literature, culture and one's mother tongue is being felt very much. That’s why they make this effort, and this ‘Ekushey Boi Utsab’ is dedicated to the memory of those who repeatedly stood in front of the bayonet to protect the honour of the mother tongue.
