Signify illuminates the iconic Howrah Bridge in Kolkata with dynamic LED Lights
News Desk, News Nation 360: The Howrah Bridge, also known as Rabindra Setu named after the great Bengali poet Rabindranath Tagore, was commissioned in 1943 and is built over the Hooghly River in West Bengal. It is currently the sixth-longest bridge of its type in the world and is a defining landmark of the City of Joy. It is also thought to be the world’s busiest cantilever bridge and handles about 100,000 vehicles and more than 150,000 pedestrians every day. The iconic 76-year-old bridge, an engineering marvel linking the two cities of Howrah and Kolkata has been illuminated using 650 dynamic coloureds LED light points that highlight the structure’s
impressive design. The world leader in lighting, formerly known as Philips Lighting, announced the illumination of the Howrah Bridge in Kolkata using its Color Kinetics lighting system. Sumit Padmakar Joshi, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Signify Innovations India Limited, told they at Signify are committed to transforming monuments in an eco-friendly manner by enhancing their beauty with their energy-efficient lighting solutions. Their LED lights will enhance the aesthetic appeal of the iconic Howrah Bridge, which is also one of the key attractions of the City of Joy. This project joins the ever-growing list of cultural landmarks illuminated with their Color Kinetics lighting system.
