Everything you need to know about egg freezing in the late 30s and 40s

The reason behind this is the new methods of conceiving with the help of assisted reproductive technologies (ART). Egg freezing is one of the procedures which can help women get pregnant in their late 30s or early 40s after the biological clock has ticked off. Egg freezing is a method that involves the retrieval of eggs from a woman’s ovaries to be frozen. Later, these preserved unfertilized eggs can be combined with sperm and implanted in the woman’s uterus. Egg freezing is a suitable option for couples who face infertility or want to delay their pregnancy. Other reasons why women opt for egg freezing are - 1) If the woman’s fertility is affected by cancer treatment, 2) Issues like endometriosis, tubal blockage etc. Egg freezing involves multiple steps and procedures. The optimum age to go for egg freezing is considered to be 35. When a woman enters her late 30s, the fertility rate begins to decline, and so does the quality of the eggs. Therefore, if you plan for late pregnancy, you must freeze your eggs between 30-34 years of age. Generally, egg freezing can have several pros like in case of cancer treatment or issues like endometriosis, women can go for egg freezing. If there is

a family history of menopause, freezing eggs in the early 30s is a viable option to store good-quality eggs beforehand. Women also get a chance to pursue career goals by freezing eggs at an early reproductive age and conceiving in their 40s. However, the procedure comes with a heavy cost as it is expensive. There are short-term side effects to the hormone shots given during the procedure like abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting. After egg-freezing, women have to lead a healthy lifestyle to avoid illnesses, which can affect the chances of pregnancy. If you want to go for egg-freezing, you must be aware of the ideal age, costs involved and chances of success from the procedure.
