News Desk, News Nation 360 : Bengal’s most iconic awards - the fourth edition of Joy Filmfare Awards Bangla 2020 was a memorable evening that was filled with glitz and glamour as it honoured and acknowledged the most stellar performances of Bengali cinema. Like every year, this year also saw the industry wait with bated breath to find out who wins the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. This year saw not one but two legends of the Bengal film industry being honoured. It was an emotional moment for members of the industry when it was announced that Soumitra Chatterjee was been honoured posthumously. The other awardee of the night was filmmaker Tarun Mazumdar. As the evening progressed, actors Anirban Bhattacharya and Priyanka Sarkar and Parambrata Chattopadhyay put up a special act as a tribute to Soumitra Chatterjee that was curated by Srijato Bandopadhyay. The actors put up a special dance performance on iconic numbers such as Hoytoh Tomari Jonno, Jibone Ki Pabona, Aai Sohor Theke Onek Dure, Sob Kotha Bola Holo, O Aakash Sona Sona from Chatterjee’s superhit movies which took everyone down the nostalgia lane. The audience was left emotional when Parambrata called director Atanu Ghosh on stage to give and receive the posthumous award. Ghosh narrated a few instances from the time when he first handed over the black lady to Chatterjee in 2014 for his commendable performance in the critically acclaimed movie Mayurakshi. Soumitra Chatterjee, who was known for his acting flair and has given us some memorable characters. will always live in our hearts through his movies. Other than that, veteran filmmaker Tarun Mazumdar was called upon to receive this prestigious award of Lifetime Achievement Award. Having left behind a legacy to marvel, the director got emotional in his speech and called the Bengal film industry his family.
