​Priyamvada Birla Institute of Nursing and Medhavi Skillversity join hands

News Desk, News Nation 360: Upgradation of nursing has become essential in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic and the coming together of Priyamvada Birla Institute of Nursing (unit of Belle Vue Clinic) and Medhavi Skillversity is a welcome step, said Smt Chandrima Bhattacharya, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Land and Land Reforms & Refugee Relief and Rehabilitation, Planning and Statistics, Programme Monitoring, in Kolkata today. She opened the joint initiative to upscale the skills of the nursing community. This educational course will not only help our nursing students & doctors, it will also help the medical community, including doctors, nurses & paramedical persons, who have the dream to going abroad & practise their skills. The purpose of the PBIN-Medhavi collaboration project is to focus on the development of the skills, behaviours and principles of nursing that empower them to work as per global standards. The pandemic has dramatically increased the need for highly skilled healthcare professionals while also limiting access to

traditional learning solutions. PBIN and Medhavi Skillversity are aiming at addressing these problems by launching a suite of customized upskilling programmes. This will later be extended to all healthcare professionals, including doctors and allied health professionals. The courses offered by PBIN include General Nursing and Midwifery (3 years), B. Sc Nursing (4 years), Post Basic B. Sc Nursing (2- years) and M. Sc Nursing (2 years). The first batch of GNM, Post Basic B.Sc Nursing & M.SC Nursing students have passed out, while 96 GNM pass-outs have been absorbed by Belle Vue Clinic. The following are the objectives of the PBIN-Medhavi Skillversity Project I. Making learning opportunities available & accessible regardless of geography; ii. Providing the academic structure needed to see nurses; iii. Focusing on dynamic teaching & learning styles; iv. Embracing diversity for more impactful collaboration; v. Offering new opportunities to nurses for embracing lifelong learning opportunities. P Tondon, the CEO, of Belle Vue Clinic, stated that they embark on a journey towards innovation, expansion and commitment to empowering their students with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive in the ever-changing world of medical Science. Their nursing institute is going to establish the Centre of Excellence in Upskilling of Healthcare Professionals for the first time in Eastern & North-Eastern India in the name of Medhavi-Priyamvada Birla Upskilling of Healthcare Professionals, in collaboration with Medhavi Skillversity. They have invested Rs 103 crore in setting up the Priyamvada Birla Institute of Nursing at Newtown, Rajarhat, Kolkata, on 29 September 2019 in a state-of-the-art 15 storied building, constructed as per INC rules, with all specified facilities. They expect the nursing institute to meet, to a great extent, the acute shortage of nurses in West Bengal.
