Platform 8 Will Debut the Original Comedy-Drama Swargarath Sargaram

News Desk, News Nation 360: On Wednesday, June 17, 2026, Platform 8, a top regional OTT platform under the Aakash Aath network, formally debuted its eagerly awaited seven-episode original dark comedy-drama series, "Swargarath Sargaram." Lokenath Dey (as the main character Balahari), Pradip Dhar (as Dhananjay Bata), Taranga Sarkar (as Jibon), Durbar Sharma (as Rashik), Pushan Dasgupta (as Monta), Buddhadeb Bhattacharya (as Pradhan), and Arshiya Mukherjee (as Parul) are among the gifted ensemble cast members of this moving film, which Arijeet Toton Chakraborty directs. The screenplay, which was co-written by Pele Bhattacharya and is based on an original story by Iman Chakraborty, tells the story of Balahari, a middle-aged driver who loses his job during the lockdown. Balahari steps outside of his comfort zone, sells his wife's jewellery, and buys a used hearse (funeral vehicle) to create a new source of income because he is driven

by a strong desire to support his wife, Manasi and their two young sons. But bringing the car back to his rural upbringing causes a sharp ideological split among the locals, with a progressive side defending it as a necessary public service and an orthodox group seeing it as a foreboding sign of death and tragedy. The true creative masterwork of the series, according to Platform 8 Director Priyanka Bardia and Director Arijeet Toton Chakraborty, is how the hearse itself transcends its utilitarian framework, evolving with deep human nuance to become a living, silent participant that witnesses human grief and shapes the destiny of the local village community.
