World Sleep Day 2024 Witnessed the Launch of CMRI's State-of-the-Art Sleep Lab

News Desk, News Nation 360 : CMRI is pleased to announce the opening of its innovative sleep laboratory on March 15, which coincides with World Sleep Day and represents a critical step in combating the widespread problem of sleep disorders. This aligns with the "Sleep Equity for Global Health" theme for 2024. The theme draws attention to the disparities in sleep quality among global populations, which can result in further burdens and health disparities. CMRI's cutting-edge facility, which is committed to promoting healthy sleep for good health, aims to transform the identification and management of sleep disorders, especially Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) and Sleep Disordered Breathing (SDB), in the Indian population. In addition to negatively impacting people's productivity and quality of life, these illnesses place a heavy financial burden on society. Dr. Raja Dhar, HOD, Department of Pulmonology, CMRI emphasized that even though sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) are a major risk factor for metabolic and cardiovascular diseases, they are not well understood in society. Often taken lightly, snoring may indicate underlying sleep

apnea, which, if untreated, can have major health effects. Sombrata Roy, Unit Head of CMRI added that they are pleased to present this innovative project, which not only addresses the rising number of sleep disorders in the population but also acts as a training ground for medical professionals in Eastern India. They want to enhance sleep health and general well-being in the community by increasing awareness, encouraging early diagnosis, and providing individualised treatment. The dedication to furthering sleep medicine and encouraging sleep equity for all is demonstrated by the opening of the sleep laboratory. Their goal is to create a more restful and healthy society via joint efforts and creative solutions.
