Rakshak Foundation's Path Breaking Green Initiative
More than 50,000 biodegradable bags were distributed for Gangasagar Mela 2020
News Desk, News Nation 360 : Rakshak Foundation’s path-breaking green initiative with Government of West Bengal Ganga Sagar 2020 is to distribute more than 50,000 biodegradable bags by the prison artisans at Dum Dum Central Correctional Home and Presidency Correctional Home. The Tholi bags are prepared largely by the inmates, who are being trained by the Rakshak Foundation in association with National Jute Board in Dum Dum Central Correctional Home and Presidency Correctional Home in West Bengal. Rakshak Foundation is privileged to associate with Government of West Bengal, targeting to make approx 50,000 biodegradable bags, by the Artisans in confinement as an alternative to plastic and use Eco-friendly biodegradable bags made out of Cotton, Gamcha (Towel) and Jute at the Ganga Sagar 2020. The Artisans of the Correctional Homes are excited, both about their modest contribution and the opportunity to associate with the Eco-friendly social cause. Volunteers from Rakshak Foundation will be joined by representatives from reputed institutions/organisations to spread awareness. This year everyone is expecting footfall of 4.5- 5L at the Gangasagar Mela 2020.
