Written and Directed by Shibaprasad Mukhopadhyay and Nandita Roy. The Sambalpuri folk song that has won the hearts of many has been rediscovered in Bengali by Surajit Chatterjee and Iman Chakraborty with their melodious voice. The original singers Jitendriya Haripal and Krishna Patil were invited to Kolkata to have a look at the new form of the Sambalpuri Folk Song by Surajit Chatterjee and Iman Chakraborty. They came to Kolkata and also sung their Popular Creation in the Original Sambalpuri Language. The Film Gotro is a story based on Present Society. The film's main intention is to show people that Love is not captivated with Casts. Casts are also not to be preferred in Love. To express the idea of this Film, Director Shibaprasad Mukhopadhyay told that the idea of creating this type of film came from his aunt. His aunt was physically challenged. She was taken care of by the other boy named Uttam. Before his marriage, his mother was taken care of by a boy whenever they were in Baranagore
who was sent to their place by Nigel Akkara's own Security Department. Now the fact is - Should one love the other person without judging his/her casts? Can one eat with them in one table? Is the Cast is the main problem to Love someone? This is the main motif of the Film Gotro. The revolves around a widowed senior citizen named Muktirani Devi who has too much wealth and her son lives in Foreign country for his carrier. Now to take care of Muktirani Devi, Tarek Ali was allotted there. Now, he was converted as Muktirani Devi's son by her dramatically. The story shows how a worker person becomes her son. The film was shooted in Kolkata, Odisha, Bhuvaneswar, Cuttak and Balasore. The film was acted by Anusuya Majumder as Muktirani Devi, Nigel Akkara as Tarek Ali, Saheb Chattopadhyay as Anirban and others are Manali Dey, Kharaj Mukhopadhyay, Santu Mukhopadhyay, Ambarish Bhattacharya, Badshah Maitra and others also Tollywood Actor Om and Devlina Kumar are seen in Cameo Appearance in the film. The songs are sung by Surajit Chattopadhyay, Shreya Ghoshal, Iman Chakraborty, Arijit Singh, Babul Supriyo and Aditi Munsi. The Film Gotro is releasing in theatres on the holy day of Janmashtami (23.08.2019).
