Sharat will join the Airtel Management Board and report to Gopal Vittal in this capacity. Announcing the appointment, Gopal Vittal, CEO and MD of Bharti Airtel stated that he does not doubt that Sharat's extensive international experience in product management and business leadership at many of the top technology companies in the world will greatly support Airtel's goals of quickly expanding their portfolio in the areas of connectivity and adjacencies. After serving as President of Asia Pacific at Checkpoint Software Technologies Limited, Sharat has joined Airtel Business. An accomplished technology specialist, Sharat has held leadership positions at Palo Alto Networks, Cisco, and VM Ware. His early work at VSNL and Ericsson also provided him with a solid telecom foundation.
