The Merlin Group Launched the Tailoring Training Centre for Women in Urban Slums in Partnership with Terre De Suisse Homes and DRCSC at Dhapa

News Desk, News Nation 360 : The opening of a Tailoring Training Centre for the women living in the urban slum area of Dhapa has been announced by Merlin I Am Kolkata, the corporate social responsibility arm of Merlin Group, the top real estate conglomerate in India. The facility is being provided in collaboration with TDH Suisse, a Swiss child rights organisation, and DRCSC, a non-profit that operates in the Dhapa area and other parts of West Bengal. The initiative's goal is to improve children's and youth's educational standing while encouraging economic empowerment in the Dhapa community. It does this by offering a comprehensive programme that includes support for education, digital skill development, and vocational training. At the first tailoring training centre programme, eager mothers and kids from Dhapa's slums—beneficiaries of three projects run by Merlin I Am Kolkata, TDH Suisse, and DRCSC in Dhapa—were also present. Sushil Mohta, Chairman of Merlin Group, emphasized the project's importance in supporting the local economy and stated that as a joint venture with TDH Suisse and DRCSC, Merlin is delighted to assist the underprivileged segment of the community in the Dhapa area. The training programme for digital skills, the tailoring project, and the support education programme will open doors to inclusive growth and potential economic improvement in the region. The mothers who will receive tailoring training will be assisted in producing goods they can sell in the marketplace and use to support themselves. The project will assist the centre in establishing a market connection so that the clothing, accessories, and other sewing supplies can be sold, thereby enhancing the families' financial circumstances. Twenty Dhapa slum women will receive training from the vocational centre, equipping them with useful tailoring skills. Ten sewing machines, training materials, and trainer compensation have all been donated by Merlin I Am Kolkata. Twenty mothers will be selected and assisted by TDH Suisse and DRCSC to develop their entrepreneurial abilities.
