Eastern India's Medica Offers Medical Professionals an Advanced Course on Hand Surgery

News Desk, News Nation 360 : The premier private hospital chain in Eastern India, Medica Superspecialty Hospital, has announced an upcoming workshop called "Advanced Course on Hand Surgery" organised by the Department of Orthopaedics. This extensive two-day meeting, which will be held at Medica Superspecialty Hospital, is being arranged in association with the West Bengal Orthopaedic Association (WBOA) and the Indian Society for Surgery of the Hand (ISSH). The course, which is slated to take place on February 24 and 25, will combine didactic lectures, videos that have already been recorded, and interactive discussions that are designed to support adult learning. With the aid of saw bone models and swine specimens, participants will be able to work hands-on to improve practical skills under the supervision of skilled hand surgeons. Drs. Vikash Kapoor, Kaustav Debnath, Rajiv Chatterjee, Shumayou Dutta, and Kousik Nandy are among the committed orthopaedic and plastic surgeons at Medica Superspecialty Hospital Kolkata who work tirelessly to provide patients with hand injuries and other orthopaedic ailments with exceptional care. The hospital's staff of physiotherapists and occupational therapists, who are essential in aiding in the rehabilitation and restoration of hand function, further demonstrates its dedication to providing patients with holistic care. Dr. Anirban Chatterjee, Senior Consultant, Hand & Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon & Faculty - DNB Orthopaedics, Medica Institute of Orthopaedic Sciences, Medica Superspecialty Hospital, and Dr. Vikash Kapoor, Vice Chairman, Medica Group of Hospitals, Group Director - Orthopaedics, Robotic Joint Replacement Surgeon & Arthroscopic Specialist Orthopaedic Science, gave insights of the workshop during session. Dr. Vikash Kapoor explained that hand injuries and problems are often underestimated and receive insufficient attention. Patients may experience severe functional loss and impairment in the long run if these problems are ignored. Unfortunately, a lot of people decide not to seek treatment for a variety of reasons, frequently underestimating how important it is to take care of these issues. Understanding the vital importance of providing appropriate hand care, their department has built a strong unit devoted to treating hand disorders, illnesses, trauma, and deformities. They have teamed up with the Indian Society of Hand Surgeons and the West Bengal Orthopaedic Association to increase medical knowledge and awareness in this field. Together, they hope to inform medical professionals about the latest techniques in hand treatment and the significance of specialised care. Prominent visiting faculty members include Prof. Anil Bhat (Head, Department of Hand Surgery & Associate Dean from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal), Prof. Sanjay Giri (Department of Plastic Surgery - AIIMS – Bhubaneshwar), and Prof. Bhaskarananda Kumar, who has been named a "Pioneer in Hand Surgery" by the International Federation of Hand Surgeons. Throughout the workshop, a group of knowledgeable hand surgeons from the area will join them to offer comprehensive guidance. Medical professionals from West Bengal and surrounding states are expected to participate in the Advanced Course on Hand Surgery, which provides a singular opportunity for education, teamwork, and hand surgery skill development.
