Enabling Acid Attack Survivors to Use Bright Smiles to Rewrite Their Stories

News Desk, News Nation 360 : On the eve of International Women's Day, the Indian Dental Association (Kolkata City), the Brave Soul Foundation, the Rotary Club of Kolkata Hiland Park 3291, and White Zone Dental Clinic organised a special afternoon session to use Sustainable Dental Care Solutions to restore the smiles of Acid Attack Survivors. Notable dignitaries such as Priyanka Sarkar, a well-known folk singer, Manoshi Roychowdhury, the Co-Chairperson of the Techno India Group, Dr Biswajit Panda and Dr Krishnakali Chatterjee, and other dignitaries graciously attended the event. The dedication goes beyond simple therapeutic interventions; it's about giving people the self-assurance to smile again and to face the world with bravery and resiliency. It is widely held that comprehensive dental care catered to the particular difficulties faced by survivors will eradicate the catastrophic effects of acid attacks. the immense happiness that someone experiences when they can smile again—a smile that represents not only good oral health but

also inner fortitude and self-assurance. Survivors of acid attacks frequently struggle with complex dental problems, such as malocclusion, disordered bites, and jaw injuries that may require a maxillectomy or mandibulectomy. The psychological cost is also significant and takes the form of dental anxiety. Furthermore, following such traumatic events, victims may develop physical deformities; these can include reduced mouth size and range of motion, as well as shrunken, narrow mouths. These difficulties have a major effect on basic bodily functions like speaking and eating. Patients who have had acid attacks require interdisciplinary dental care. First, emergency medical attention is needed, then dental issues. Reconstructive surgery, orthodontic therapy, prosthetic rehabilitation, and cosmetic rehabilitation are among the possible procedures. For

general well-being, dental health, regular examinations, and psychological support are essential. A specialised team of healthcare professionals must be consulted to provide survivors with individualised care that meets their needs. Kakoli Das, Shammi, Angura Bibi, Monica Mondal, and Poli Debnath, fighters of the Brave Soul Foundation Kolkata chapter, spoke about their journey of survival while being honoured by White Zone Dental Clinic, an upscale chain of dental offices with locations in Tollygunge, Ajoy Nagar, and Rabindra Sarobar. The clinics offer all the latest dental technology, including in-house CBCT, OPG, scanners, lasers, and conscious sedation. Dr Biswajit Panda stated that as dental professionals, they are aware of the profound impact that acid attacks can have on oral health. Acid attacks frequently result in significant dental erosion, endangering survivors' emotional and psychological health in addition to their physical health.
