News Desk, News Nation 360 : The Sunderban Museum, a groundbreaking cultural and natural history institution, has officially opened, dedicated to showcasing the rich biodiversity, unique culture, and fascinating history of the world's largest mangrove forest. Designed by iLEAD School of Design, which previously conceptualised the 1971 war museum at Petrapole, this new museum aims to be a premier venue depicting the art, history, culture, archaeology, and anthropology of the Sunderbans. It features twelve distinct galleries, each exploring a specific aspect: Boats and Ships of Sunderbans (traditional boats, nautical artifacts), Pirates of Sunderbans (legends and stories), Fauna and Flora (taxidermy, plant specimens), Forest Products (timber, non-timber products, golpata), Handicrafts (wood carvings, pottery, textiles), Cyclones of Sunderbans (history and impact), Tribals of Sunderbans (artifacts, cultural practices), Conservation Efforts (projects, protected areas, interactive exhibits), History and Culture (ancient trade routes, legends, artifacts), Climate Change (impacts like rising sea levels, storm frequency), Livelihoods and Economy (fishing, forest-based livelihoods, tourism), and the Future of the Sundarbans (challenges and sustainable development opportunities).
