SERVES FOR NATION

News Desk, News Nation 360 : A tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was announced by APOA, the CPOPC, and Solidaridad to strengthen producer-consumer cooperation and promote sustainability throughout the palm oil value chain. With a particular emphasis on India and South Asia, the MOU, which was signed in Mumbai, establishes a formal framework to manage market volatility, harmonise techniques, and improve smallholder participation. Atul Chaturvedi, Chairman, APOA, stated that this alliance provides farmers and consumers with a formal table to increase collaboration and promote mutual understanding in tackling shared concerns at a time when South Asian households and companies are focused on food security and price stability. Under this MoU, with CPOPC as a driver and champion of sustainable palm oil, the Parties have pledged to promote pragmatic convergence and cross-recognition between national sustainability schemes, including Indonesia Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO), Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO), and the Indian Palm Oil Sustainability (IPOS) Framework, with due regard for each nation's legal and regulatory environments. The partnership gives high priority to regenerative agricultural methods. To enhance the stability and certainty of palm oil supply to more than 1.5 billion South Asian consumers, Parties will promote traceable, smallholder-inclusive, and NDPE-compliant (No Deforestation, No Peat, and No Exploitation) sourcing. They will pilot Solidaridad's SoliTrace traceability tool and utilise remote-sensing technology for end-to-end mill-to-market visibility, in addition to creating importer-facing dashboards specific to Indian buyers. The MoU also sets up a Joint Working Group, co-chaired by APOA and CPOPC with Solidaridad as Technical Secretariat, to manage workplans, track progress, and coordinate common communications and advocacy efforts.
