News Desk, News Nation 360 : Bangla ZEE5 recently released the digital teaser for their new web series Ganoshotru, which stars Paoli Dam, Rudranil Ghosh, Ayush Das, Debopriyo Mukherjee, and Subrata Dutta. The teaser is already available on all of Bangla ZEE5's social media platforms. Ganoshotru is a new Bengali crime anthology series that reimagines five spooky real-life tales based on the lives of Bengal's most notorious characters from the criminal underbelly. The show explores how people from humble origins, motivated by socioeconomic crisis and social neglect, descended into fame, terror, and authority. Starring an ensemble cast of Paoli Dam as Troilokya Devi, Rudranil Ghosh as Hubba Shyamal, Ayush Das as Sajal Barui, Debopriyo Mukherjee as "The Chain Man," and Subrat Dutta as Rashid Khan, each story delves into the alarming psychology behind their offence, with a blend of documentary realism and dramatic fiction. The anthology
offers a candid examination of the rise and reign and ultimate fall of these individuals, bound in common themes of ambition, desperation, and complexity of the human condition. With its recasting of characters such as Troilokya Devi — India's first serial female killer; Hubba Shyamal — the politically powerful gangster; Sajal Barui — the adolescent parricide; the necrophilic "Chain Man"; and Rashid Khan — the 1993 Bowbazar blast mastermind who shook Kolkata, Ganoshotru attempts to unveil the darkness and weakness that exist side by side in Bengal's socio-political landscape, challenging society's thin line between victims and villains. Rusa Banerjee, Business Head, Bangla ZEE5, stated that at Bangla ZEE5, they are dedicated to curating tales that are culturally relevant but also daring in their approach. Ganoshotru is one of their most ambitious Bengali originals, combining truth and fantasy to convey Bengal's crime history in a raw, genuine, and dramatic manner. With a powerful cast and a strong directorial team, they are confident that Ganoshotru will spark conversations when it premieres on the platform.
