News Desk, News Nation 360 : Care Health Insurance has issued an urgent warning encouraging families and workplaces to implement HEPA-certified air filtration in response to escalating respiratory ailments caused by rising pollution levels. Various regions are experiencing a sharp increase in asthma attacks, respiratory infections, and emergencies related to pollution, closely linked with persistently high levels of air pollution. Recent health analyses show that air pollution is among the leading causes of premature death in India, contributing to millions of pollution-related illnesses each year, particularly asthma, COPD, heart disease, and stroke. Its PM2.5 levels remain among the highest in the world, with the country ranking 5th as the most polluted globally in 2024, and scores of cities far exceeding the WHO limits for safety, exposing them to fine particles that go deep into the lungs. Asthma affects tens of millions across India, and symptoms often worsen when pollution surges, hence increasing hospitalisations and insurance claims during winter. In response, Care Health Insurance has issued an advisory recommending HEPA-certified air purifiers indoors, keeping windows closed during severe pollution, limiting outdoor activity and intense exercise during peak hours, using N95 or equivalent masks when outside, following prescribed treatment for people with asthma, staying well-hydrated, eating an antioxidant-rich diet, and avoiding indoor smoke sources such as incense and candles. These measures can reduce exposure to harmful pollutants and support better respiratory health, but anyone with persistent or severe symptoms should immediately seek medical care for personalised advice. Speaking on the advisory, Manish Dodeja, Chief Operating Officer, Care Health Insurance, stated that they are witnessing an unparalleled convergence of elements affecting their air quality. These have a direct impact on their respiratory system. Care Health Insurance, as a responsible health partner to millions, is dedicated to providing its policyholders with timely, preventive care. HEPA filtration is a simple yet effective measure that people can take to protect their home air quality.
