SERVES FOR NATION
News Desk, News Nation 360: The team behind the folkloric horror thriller *Charak: Fair of Faith* arrived in Kolkata on March 5, 2026, before the movie's release the following day across the country. The movie, produced by Sudipto Sen of *The Kerala Story* fame, is a directorial venture by Shieladitya Moulik that explores the spooky aspects of the ancient festival of Charak and the thin line that divides faith from the occult. The movie, released by PEN Studios in association with Dr. Jayantilal Gada, has an impressive star cast that includes Anjali Patil, Subrat Dutta, and Sahidur Rahaman, among others. The city of Kolkata became the epicenter of activity as Sudipto Sen and music director Bishakh Jyoti were seen interacting with the local media regarding the cultural significance of the movie, but protests by the local population became the order of the day as the movie's posters were vandalized by the protesters, claiming that the movie depicted the festival in a negative light and misrepresented the feelings of the local population. However, the producers of the movie were adamant that the movie was an attempt to highlight the thin line that divides extremism from faith, as the movie is a stark portrayal of Eastern folkloric traditions.
