Fortis Hospital Anandapur is Hosting the First IV Nurses Walkathon in Kolkata

News Desk, News Nation 360 : The first-ever IV Nurses Walkathon was held in Kolkata on International IV Nurses Day by Fortis Hospital Anandapur and the Infusion Nurses Society (INS) India – Bengal Chapter. Colonel Binu Sharma, CEO of INS India, Captain Madhukari Ray, Vice President of INS India, Dolly Biswas, Chapter Head of INS Bengal, and Manasi Bhaskar, Co-Chair of the INS Kolkata Chapter, officially opened the event. Their participation underscored the national significance of this initiative. More than 20 metropolitan hospitals responded enthusiastically to the program, which was conceived by the administrative, infection control, and nursing education departments of Fortis Hospital Anandapur. Apollo Multispeciality Hospital, B.M. Birla Heart Research Centre, CMRI Hospital, and Manipal Hospital (Dhakuria) were among the participating institutions. Acropolis Mall, then returned to the hospital's grounds. Certificates of Appreciation were given to each participating nurse, and souvenirs for their contributions were given to cooperating

healthcare partners. The walkathon's main goal was to increase public awareness of infusion therapy safety. It was observed that nurses are the primary providers of safe and efficient infusion therapy, and that more than 95% of hospitalised patients need a vascular access device. The incident made clear that even small mistakes in hygiene, line upkeep, or insertion methods can result in serious infections and problems. To guarantee better clinical results, special attention was paid to following conventional aseptic procedures, doing routine site evaluations, changing dressings on time, and spotting danger indicators early. Speaking on the initiative, Ashish Mukherjee, Facility Director of Fortis Hospital Anandapur, stated that infusion nurses are the foundation of the healthcare system and are essential to enhancing patient safety and clinical results. This walkathon offered a potent platform to honour professional pride and increase public awareness of the vital role that nurses play. Fortis Hospital Anandapur is still dedicated to promoting nursing quality and raising societal norms for patient safety.
