News Desk, News Nation 360 : Fortis Hospital in Anandapur has launched a six-month free cardiac screening campaign to commemorate World Heart Day 2025, with this year's theme "Don't Miss a Beat." The effort emphasises the urgent need for preventive measures, since unexpected cardiac arrests are increasingly striking young, seemingly healthy people. The month-long screening drive in October 2025 through March 2026 extends free heart check-ups to community venues such as corporate buildings, residential areas, and clubs, reaching employees of major organizations and local groups with 70–80 people anticipated to attend each event, allowing thousands of people to get preventive cardiac care through simple screenings, doctor visits for lifestyle modification, and interactive CPR demonstrations. This is also in line with World Heart Day 2025's theme of "Don't Miss a Beat," which is particularly pertinent in India as almost half of heart attack cases today occur in individuals under the age of 40, and the program seeks to make detection and lifestyle change more accessible to young adults and working individuals by going to the places they are used to. Early discovery, regular screening, and public education are top priorities, highlighting that the danger of early cardiovascular disease is growing in younger generations—particularly arrhythmias and other heart rhythm disorders—which now account for rising numbers among individuals in their 20s and 30s. The global campaign spearheaded by the World Heart Federation emphasises that 80% of cases of premature heart disease can be avoided through simple lifestyle changes, early screening, and timely action on symptoms, urging everyone to take proactive action and not let timely opportunities slip for safeguarding heart health. Speaking about the initiative, Ashish Mukherjee, Facility Director, Fortis Hospital Ananadapur, stated that the increase in abrupt cardiac arrests among the younger population is extremely worrying. They believe that raising awareness and implementing early intervention are critical to reverse this trend. Their goal for this six-month effort is to reach as many individuals as possible, educate them on risk factors, and support timely lifestyle changes. This effort demonstrates their commitment to extending treatment beyond the hospital walls and collaborating with communities to create healthier futures.
