GMIT and BOPT Collaborate to Strengthen Careers During a Crisis

News Desk, News Nation 360 : Gargi Memorial Institute of Technology (GMIT), a prestigious institution under the JIS Group of Engineering Colleges, in proud partnership with the Board of Practical Training- Eastern Region (BOPT-ER), has announced a mega job fair offering over 500 career opportunities across various industries at a time when job insecurity and layoffs dominate headlines and the dreams of countless diploma holders lie in limbo. Top industry and academic leaders organised a press conference at the Kolkata Press Club to unveil a job fair initiative for diploma holders. The initiative is to include participation from several national and international companies such as Iskraemeco, TVS Brake, Technocon Services, Kone Elevator, Dynamic Engineering, Inceptial, RT Network, Prozor Tech, Besco, and RNS Green & Renewable Pvt. Ltd., with technical positions being offered. Key recruiters such as TVS Brake and Iskraemeco are seeking to recruit 150–200 each, with Technocon also being a major player. The event is being promoted as a timely chance for diploma holders of the 2020 to 2025 batches to begin their careers with well-established companies locally. It is an example of Gargi Memorial Institute of Technology (GMIT)'s effort to close the gap between education and employability through industry interaction. The job fair will be held at the GMIT Campus on May 9th and 10th, 2025, between the hours of 9 AM and 6 PM. In an important announcement, Soumya Sen, Chairman and MD of Technocon Services Group, a group of companies with diverse business interests in telecom, logistics, diesel engines, EPC, and shipbuilding, committed to hiring more than 200 skilled workers for their new, state-of-the-art Diesel Generating Set manufacturing plant in South 24 Parganas. The group employs over 10,000 technically skilled workers. To offer consumers off-the-shelf power backup solutions, Teknoconstant Energy Pvt Ltd, in collaboration with Tafe TMTL Eicher, is establishing the plant, which is scheduled to be launched on May 16, 2025, as well as a sales and service network throughout the Eastern Region.
