SERVES FOR NATION
News Desk. News Nation 360: In keeping with its long-standing dedication to environmental stewardship, Mother Dairy, a fully owned subsidiary of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), has revealed India's first naturally degradable milk bag in soil. This first-of-its-kind packaging innovation, which is set to launch in the Delhi NCR area on World Environment Day (June 5, 2026), enables the material to transform into a bioavailable wax that soil bacteria naturally break down into natural elements in a matter of years rather than centuries. There will be no changes to consumer milk prices, shelf life, storage practices, or overall product quality during this structural shift, which will begin with the brand's well-known Cow Milk variant, marking ten years of market presence. This milestone demonstrates the dairy industry's ability to set future-ready benchmarks where sustainability is inherently woven across the entire economic value chain, according to Dr Meenesh Shah, Chairman of the NDDB and Mother Dairy. The accomplishment is the result of more than four years of intensive research aimed at removing trace plastics and reducing the environmental problem of fugitive plastic waste while maintaining full material recyclability, according to Jayatheertha Chary, Managing Director of Mother Dairy. In order to improve brand equity, Mother Dairy is introducing a contemporary, updated design language throughout its liquid milk products, in addition to this material innovation. Cleaner font, more vibrant colour schemes, and a unique "Note of Care" graphic element—inspired by the brand's iconic logo—are all part of this visual makeover, which modernises Mother Dairy's distinctive identity by including warm, relevant everyday sentiments.
