News Desk, News Nation 360: The 2026 West Bengal State Taekwondo Championship and the GCS Peace Cup 2026 were successfully held at the famous, honeycomb-shaped Dhono Dhanya Auditorium in Alipore, Kolkata, from July 8–10, 2026, thanks to an elite co-branding partnership between the Taekwondo Association of West Bengal (TAWB) and the GCS West Bengal India Chapter. The three-day Olympic-style state martial arts summit, which is affiliated with India Taekwondo (IT) under the global regulatory lineage of World Taekwondo (WT), brought together hundreds of elite athletes from throughout the region to promote structural sportsmanship and humanitarian values aligned with the United Nations ECOSOC. The high-profile opening ceremony commenced with a sacred spiritual invocation by His Holiness Revered Srimat Swami Prajnatmananda Maharaj of Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math, and featured a symbolic "Passing of the Spirit of Taekwondo Flame" led by Grand Master Pradipta Kumar Roy (7th Dan Kukkiwon, TAWB General Secretary, and GCS West Bengal President) alongside an illustrious public delegation including Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose (Hon'ble First Chairperson of the Lokpal of India), Shri R. K. Ganeriwala (CFO & President of Jay Shree Tea & Industries, B.K. Birla Group), and Shri Sujay Kumar Chanda, IPS (Former Joint Commissioner of Police, Kolkata). Under the technical direction of Senior Master Ruma Roy Chowdhury (Secretary General of GCS West Bengal) and the guidance of psycho-spiritual coach Deblina Dutta, the competition featured intense, precision-driven inter-district combat. North 24 Parganas won the Overall State Champion Trophy, while Malda District won the hard-fought Runner-up title, solidifying the organisation's long-term institutional mission to use grassroots martial arts as a potent catalyst for youth character development, cross-cultural diplomacy, and regional social transformation.
