News Desk, News Nation 360: Manipal Hospital Rangapani, a pioneer in holistic cancer care in North Bengal, partnered with the Lions Club to organise a dedicated awareness program on March 15, 2026, targeting cancer survivors and the life-restoring role of early diagnosis. The engaging session was conducted by senior oncologists Dr Anirban Nag and Dr Arkoprovo Halder, who drew attention to the fact that nearly 1.5 million new cancer cases are reported every year in India, especially breast, cervical, ovarian, and oral cancers, and that 40% of these cases can be prevented by making lifestyle modifications and regular screenings. The awareness program, which was attended by prominent members of the Lions Club, including Past District Governor Kedar Gajmer and Vice Governor Asha Gajmer, also included valuable inputs from Dr Sourav Guha on the accuracy of contemporary radiation therapy to ensure that a patient’s quality of life is preserved. Dr Nag stressed that fighting the stigma and fear of symptoms is essential for successful cancer treatment, while Lion Debjani Maitra Chaterjee highlighted that the collective effort of the Lions Club and Manipal Hospital aims to empower the people of Siliguri with the knowledge of preventive healthcare. Through the combined strength of medical knowledge and community outreach, the initiative reiterated that early diagnosis enables patients to live a full life and remains the most effective strategy to enhance survival rates in the region.
