News Desk, News Nation 360 : On the eve of Emergency Day, which coincides with Hawkers Day, Manipal Hospital Dhakuria hosted a training session for the Gariahat Hawkers on the hospital grounds. Dr Pradip Bhowmik, Consultant Cardiologist at Manipal Hospital Dhakuria, discussed the symptoms of heart disease and emphasised the importance of early detection. The hospital's

professional nursing team trained approximately 40 hawkers in CPR. CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) is an immediate treatment applied when an individual's heartbeat or breathing stops, so CPR training is essential to save lives in cardiac arrest. Recently, a session of one and a half hours was organised where the nursing staff performed CPR techniques on volunteers and mannequins to provide full awareness among participants. The session was finished with issuing completion certificates and emergency kits to participants. Dr Pradip Bhowmik, Consultant Cardiologist, Manipal Hospital Dhakuria, stated that early detection is essential in reducing the risk of a heart attack. Routine screening is required beyond the age of 40. Avoiding smoking and junk food, as well as incorporating moderate exercise into a balanced diet, is critical for a healthy heart, and early treatment of blood sugar and hypertension is required.
