SERVES FOR NATION
News Desk, News Nation 360 : One of India's top healthcare providers, Manipal Hospitals Kolkata, started a unique gesture to honour the artisans of Kumartuli—the same hands that carve out the Goddess herself—as Bengal gets ready to welcome Maa Durga with great fanfare. Manipal Hospitals Kolkata recognised the idol makers and talked about their needs for health and wellness at a special event. About the initiative, Dr. Ayanabh Debgupta, Regional Chief Operating Officer, Manipal Hospitals East, stated that Bengal's heart and soul is Durga Puja, which is not just a celebration. Every year, the artists of Kumartuli bring the Goddess to life with their unmatched dedication. Their work embodies the spirit of the land, adoration, and not craftsmanship. At Manipal Hospitals, they give respect to their spirit and remain committed to their well-being and health. They promise to use their knowledge and compassion to look after their health, just as they use their art to preserve Bengal's culture, traditions, and beliefs. Through this endeavour, they hope to maintain the health, strength, and celebration of those who bestow upon us the glorious form of Maa Durga. The event was graced by several esteemed medical professionals such as Dr.
Ayanabh Debgupta, Regional Chief Operating Officer of Manipal Hospitals East, in addition to Dr. Kunal Sarkar, Dr. Vikash Kapoor, Dr. Shubhayu Banerjee, Dr. Sourav Datta, Dr. Payel Bose, Dr. Kishen Goel, Dr. Debraj Jash, Dr. Sujit Chaudhuri, Dr. Anshu Sen, Dr. Suranjan Mukherjee, Dr. Smita Moitra, Dr. Sima Dutta Roy, Dr. Paromita Kanjilal Chakraborty, Dr. Soumen Basu, Dr. Abhinibesh Chatterjee, and Dr. Polly Chatterjee, who came together to celebrate artisans and promote their well-being. In partnership with Resident Welfare Associations and the Idol Makers' Association, Privilege Health Cards were introduced by Manipal Hospitals Kolkata for idol makers to provide them with priority treatment, medical consultation, and other benefits. The initiative involved a felicitation function where hospital consultants took the artisans' proficiency and hard work as an opportunity to celebrate. One of the major highlights was a panel discussion on "Prevention is Better Than Cure" covering common ailments suffered by idol makers as part of their occupation. Specialists from cardiology, eye care, respirology, orthopaedics, gastroenterology, neurology, and emergency medicine discussed preventive and precautionary healthcare measures for artisans in order to protect themselves before the festival season. The event ended with an interactive Q&A session, enabling idol makers to directly interact with medical specialists regarding their health issues.
