News Desk, News Nation 360: To mark Senior Citizens Day which is being celebrated as a part of Senior Citizens Happiness Week, Manipal Hospital Mukundapur Cluster in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Victoria Memorial Hall organized an Art Therapy & Creative Wellness Workshop ‘Creativity Never Retires’, where 50 elderly people participated – an initiative to promote emotional wellness and active ageing by harnessing creativity through art & craft. The special event, attended by West Bengal Cabinet Minister for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Smt. Agnimitra Paul, who joined the participants in painting a portrait of Bharat Mata, was held at the prestigious Victoria Memorial Hall in Kolkata. The doyens of Manipal Hospital guided the art session and were assisted by Aranya Sen, a certified art therapist. The session commenced with an informative lecture on art therapy delivered by the Guest of Honour, Prof. Muktinath Mondal, Principal, Government College of Art & Craft, Kolkata. This enriching session saw senior citizens from across the city painting portraits and landscapes. Dr Sanjoy Basu, Clinical Lead, Medical Gastroenterology, Manipal Hospital, along with Dr Sumanta Dey, Lead Consultant, General & Minimal Access Surgery, Manipal Hospital and Komal Dashora, Director – Manipal Hospitals Mukundapur Cluster, along with Dr Sayan Bhattacharya, Secretary & Curator, Victoria Memorial Hall and Prof. Muktinath Mondal also participated in the art session. The paintings created by the seniors will be displayed at the Indian Museum.
