Medica Superspecialty Hospital Celebrated World Brain Day

News Desk, News Nation 360 : As the central hub of the body's operational system, the brain governs people's thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. It is more than just another organ. The medical community must continue telling the story of brain health and essential awareness. In honour of World Brain Day and the celebration of the moving testimonies of patients, Medica Superspecialty Hospital held a motivational program in which spine and brain surgeons participated in a roundtable discussion and inspirational survivors shared tales from their road to

recovery. At the program, Dr. L.N. Tripathy stated that the foundation of their well-being is the state of their brains. In honour of World Brain Day, it is important to draw attention to some concerning statistics: each year, between 40,000 and 50,000 people in India receive a brain tumour diagnosis; 20% of these patients are children. Malignant brain tumour patients have an average survival rate of just 34.4%. Genetics and prior radiation exposure are just two of the numerous factors that contributed to the development of these tumours. These numbers, in my opinion, show that to improve prognosis and quality of life, it is imperative to raise general awareness of diseases, diagnose patients promptly, and make healthier therapeutic management available. Chief Guest Tashi Penjore, Honourable Consul General (Royal Bhutanese Consulate), graced the occasion. Renowned Bengali playwright and thespian Arun Mukhopadhyay was among the honoured guests, along with actor, writer, and film director Shiboprosad Mukherjee. Dr Sunandan Basu, Consultant, Brain and Spine Surgeon, Dr Harsh Jain, Senior Consultant, Neurosurgeon and Spine Surgeon, and Dr L.N. Tripathy, Senior Vice Chairman, Director & Senior Consultant, Medica Institute of Neurological Diseases (MIND) were present at the program representing Medica.
