News Desk, News Nation 360 : The team of doctors at Narayana Hospital in Chunavati successfully treated a premature baby girl born at 27 weeks, weighing only 760 grams. Initially, she had problems breathing after birth and required mechanical ventilation in the NICU. A team of doctors, led by Dr Akhileshwar Narayan Chowdhury, constantly monitored her to deal with the problems of such a small baby. Soon, she developed a potentially life-threatening intestinal obstruction, with her abdomen distended and green vomiting. A team of surgeons, led by Dr Goutam Chakraborty, performed a delicate surgery on the fragile baby. The surgery required specialised equipment and expertise from the anaesthesia team, consisting of Dr Rashmi Shahi and Dr Ruchi. Later, she struggled with sepsis, respiratory distress, and low protein levels. Dr Premanjan Bhattacharjee administered a focused eye injection to prevent any vision problems in the baby. The entire neonatal team’s dedication enabled her to overcome these life-threatening obstacles. This particular situation highlights the region’s high medical capacity to treat extremely premature babies. Dr Akhileshwar Narayan Chowdhury stated that babies born this early and with such low birth weight require constant monitoring and quick interventions. Every small progress counts. This baby's recovery demonstrates not just her battling spirit, but also the effectiveness of the coordinated neonatal care provided in Howrah. After nearly two months of intense care and continuous monitoring in the hospital, the infant steadily improved, gained strength, and was discharged in stable condition.
