Sonagachi's Abha Surgy Centre Hosts a Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Session for the Children of Sex Workers

News Desk, News Nation 360 : Abha Surgy Centre, a trusted name in women's health and fertility care for over three decades, collaborated with the NGO Amra Padatik to host a Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Session for the children of sex workers in Sonagachi. The initiative, which was intended to promote health, dignity, and community welfare, was attended by Dr Bani Kumar Mitra, Founder & Chief Consultant, Abha Surgy Centre, Dr Konkon Das Mitra, Director & Chief Embryologist, Abha Surgy Centre, and Amra Padatik members. The program finished with a heartfelt musical performance by renowned singer Lagnajita Chakraborty, who provided warmth and support in the afternoon. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about menstrual health, personal cleanliness, and fundamental gynaecological information through age-appropriate, compassionate discussions. The Abha Surgy Centre provided over 100 participants with hygiene kits containing critical sanitary supplies as well as teaching materials. Medical personnel from the facility were ready to answer participants' enquiries about menstrual hygiene. Both Abha Surgy Centre and Amra Padatik emphasised the importance of ongoing outreach, continuous education, and supportive interventions for children in vulnerable situations, emphasising the importance of collaboration between healthcare providers and grassroots organisations in ensuring long-term impact and care. Dr Bani Kumar Mitra, Founder & Chief Consultant, Abha Surgy Centre, while speaking about the initiative, stated that Abha Surgery Centre has always felt that healthcare goes beyond clinical therapy. Initiatives like these demonstrate their dedication to building a knowledgeable and healthy community. Regardless of their status, every child deserves to be respected, cared for, and have access to basic hygiene.
