SERVES FOR NATION

News Desk, News Nation 360: South City International School, Kolkata, organised a Classical Musical Session conducted by Kolkata Music Tradition along with Eternal Sounds as part of a special music program that gathered 60 students from Classes 3 to 11 who performed an eclectic classical-contemporary fusion under the collective name of ‘Taal Tarang.’ In line with their mentor, Arindam Burman, the young artists fused traditional Indian ragas with Western rhythms: having started the musical journey on the opening classical composition “Albela Sajan Aayo Re”, they enlivened the finale with ‘Garaj Garaj Aayo’, skillfully blending indigenous musical instruments such as the sarod, flute, and tabla with the contemporary Western guitar and drums. Pleased with the children’s disciplined approach to the artistic endeavour, Principal Vishal Bhandari and Head of Performing Arts and Marketing Mahua Chakraborty highlighted that cross-genre musical experiences foster emotional expression, collaborative skills, and cultural appreciation, thus proving that India’s classical musical tradition can be both vibrant and contemporary and appeal to young people.
