News Desk. News Nation 360: The Travel Agents Association of Bengal (TAAB) has resolved a prolonged management crisis following a landmark Calcutta High Court intervention, which mandated a fresh election conducted under the supervision of Joint Special Officers Biswa Brata Basumallick and Ritzu Ghoshal. Held on May 9, 2026, with a high voter turnout of 79%, the election saw 12 positions filled uncontested, while competitive voting decided five key roles, including the President and General Secretary. The newly elected governing body officially took charge on May 10, 2026, ending a five-month stalemate that had halted the association's daily operations since the contested 2025 Annual General Meeting. Looking forward, the committee has pledged a ten-point roadmap for modernisation, featuring initiatives such as cashless transactions, a smart digital website, enhanced FAM trips, and direct access to government schemes. This unprecedented court-ordered election is viewed by members as a significant victory for democratic principles, establishing a transparent foundation for TAAB's leadership over the next two years. The new committee will start with only 10 positive steps towards betterment, as follows: 1) Cashless Transactions System, 2) Smart Digital Website, which is helpful for all members, 3) Bigger and better Connect Bengal, 4) International and Domestic FAM Trips, 5) Strategic Road Shows in Domestic and International destinations, 6) Government Affiliation Support, 7) Digital Membership ID cards for recognition, 8) Dynamic Membership Directory, 9) Technology & Knowledge-driven Workshops, 10) Direct Access to Government Schemes.
