News Desk, News Nation 360 : On the occasion of World Environment Day, Techno India University, West Bengal, in association with the Millennium Institute of Energy and Environment Management (MIEEM), Indian Institute of Materials Management (IIMM), Centre for Research in Materials Management (CRIMM), and the Federation of Small and Medium Industries (FOSMI), convened the Global Summit on "Wealth from the Blue: Opportunities and Challenges" — a landmark event to highlight the promise and responsibility. The Kolkata campus of Techno India University organised a summit dedicated to the sustainable utilisation of sea resources and their blue economy potential. One of the landmark occasions at the summit was the inauguration of the Centre of Excellence on Blue Economy, which will be a pioneer in innovation, research, and cooperation in the aquatic economy. Prof. Manoshi Roy Chowdhury, Co-Chairperson of Techno India Group, formally opened the event, addressing the guests and launching the digital plaque for the Centre. The conference witnessed the esteemed presence of Dr Abhijit Mitra, Lalit Raj Meena, National President IIMM, Dr Basab Chakraborty, MD STEP IIT KGP, Prof Manoshi Roychowdhury, Co-Chairperson, Techno India Group and Prof. (Dr) Goutam Sengupta, Rector, Techno India University, at the inauguration of the Centre of Excellence on Blue Economy at Techno India University on the occasion of World Environment Day. The conference gathered national and international leaders, scholars, policymakers, and professionals. It sought to discuss the economic and environmental potential of the Blue Economy, generate technological innovations, and resolve environmental and regulatory issues. The event also aimed at forging international and regional collaborations for long-term research, capacity development, and knowledge sharing. The Blue Economy Centre of Excellence, established during the summit, will serve as a critical hub for promoting sustainable practices, assisting in the development of environmentally friendly marine technologies, and facilitating cutting-edge research in areas such as marine biotechnology, ocean renewable energy, aquaculture, and blue carbon. It will also work to improve capacity for students, professionals, and policymakers through specialised training, certification programs, and collaborative platforms. Furthermore, the Centre intends to form strategic alliances with national and international stakeholders in order to co-develop and scale sustainable technologies on a global scale.
