News Desk, News Nation 360: Calcutta Boys’ School recently concluded the 10th edition of the Clifford Hicks International Debate, an elite-level competition that saw over 300 enthusiastic student debaters from 83 premier institutions in India and overseas come together at an international platform to witness and participate in an intellectually stimulating five-day event that saw students exploring diverse themes while practising critical thinking, structured debate and global perspectives. With the objective of marking and commemorating the legacy of the late former principal and renowned orator, Clifford Hicks, since the event’s inception in 2015, the competition has spanned five days, with two days of preliminary rounds, one day for the semi-finals, and two days for the finals. The competition, which witnessed several young debaters honing their skills in public speaking, research-intensive argumentation, and critical thinking, saw the school’s Principal & Secretary, Raja McGee, address the participants said that such events provide secondary students with invaluable skills like research-based evidence, analytical thinking, listening, and speaking to become well-rounded citizens and leaders in their respective fields, apart from the standard curriculum.
