Three-Day Inter-College District Sports Competition Begins in North Kolkata

News Desk, News Nation 360 : To identify and cultivate sporting talent in the region, the North Kolkata Inter-College District Sports and Games Championship 2025-2026 began at the Scottish Church College Ground. This championship receives support from the Directorate of Education and the Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal, and is organised by Scottish Church College. This inaugural function was attended by well-known footballer Bidesh Bose and was marked by the presence of Joint Director of Public Instruction, Dr Ashis Ghosh, and Principal, Dr Madhumanjari Mandal. Other senior dignitaries who graced the occasion include Vice-Principal, Dr Supratim Das, and Convener, Dr Upendranath Nandi. This time, twenty-five colleges from the North Kolkata area are participating in the championship. Various athletic competitions, such as sprint, long jump, high jump, and shot put events, were witnessed on the very first day of the championship, which is set to continue on the 17th and 18th of January, with football and Kho-Kho championships to be held at the same venue. This sporting body is very important to promote sporting standards in the district at the college level.
