SERVES FOR NATION
News Desk, News Nation 360: Under its main fundraising campaign, the Pritam LIONATHON, the Lions Club of Kolkata Grand has successfully opened state-of-the-art paediatric healthcare facilities at the Children's Department of the Saroj Gupta Cancer Centre & Research Institute (SGCCRI) in Thakurpukur, Kolkata. A specialised 21-bed General Ward and a 6-bed fully automated electric Intensive Critical Care Unit (ICCU) are part of the newly renovated infrastructure, which is committed to realising the profound humanitarian vision of the late Nitu Baid, Charter President of the club, to improve clinical comfort, dignity, and life-saving support for young cancer patients. In front of SGCCRI Director Dr Arnab Gupta, Honorary Secretary Anjan Gupta, District Governor Manju Chamaria, and Lions Club of Kolkata Grand President Ajit Baid, the cutting-edge facilities were formally unveiled by Lions Clubs International President A.P. Singh and former International Director Sangeeta Jatia. The project highlights the global organisation's core medical mission to drive high-impact healthcare interventions, providing enhanced critical care resources and renewed hope to vulnerable families battling childhood cancer. It was funded by the combined efforts of corporate donors and well-wishers, who also supported the installation of ten solar street lights throughout the campus.
