Uttam Kumar Memorial Cultural Committee Observed Mahanayak's Passing Away

News Desk, News Nation 360 : With his humanitarian efforts and film legacy forever etched in the memories, Mahanayak Uttam Kumar continues to be a respected beacon in Bengali cultural life. Both his birthday on September 3rd and his death on July 24th have been celebrated for the last ten years. In keeping with the Mahanayak's ideology, a number of social projects are implemented all year long. Every year on July 24, artists who frequently work behind the camera with Uttam Kumar receive financial support and health treatments through a partnership with Peerless Hospital. The renowned Uttam Smarak Samman (Lifetime Achievement) award, previously presented to notable individuals such as Madhabi Mukherjee and Lily Chakraborty, is bestowed upon a living legend each year. In this year's function, Shrimati Shakuntala Barua was given the Uttam Smarak Samman (Lifetime Achievement), and the evening also witnessed musical performances by a roster of renowned artists such as Srikanto Acharya, Lopamudra Mitra, Rupankar Bagchi, Manomay Bhattacharya, Saikat Mitra, Saptak Bhattacharya, Gourav Sarkar, Aritra Dasgupta, Chandrika Bhattacharya, and Sujoy Bhowmik. Respected guests like actor Biswajit Chakraborty, along with some members of Uttam Kumar's family like Gautam Chatterjee (along with his wife Sumana and Mahua), Kartik Banerjee, and Debashis Kumar were present to mark the occasion. Continuing Uttam Kumar's tradition of supporting film technicians, the event granted financial assistance of ₹10,000 each to two technicians who had collaborated with the legendary actor, namely Biswajit Banerjee and Anup Kumar Biswas, and further sustained support by enlisting the participation of Peerless Hospital, which undertook to bear all their treatment expenses, with the paperwork for this aid provided to beneficiaries during the event.
