News Desk, News Nation 360 : With pride, Jagannath Gupta Institute of Medical Sciences & Hospital (JIMSH) introduces Operation Straight Spine (OSS), a ground-breaking medical initiative that will revolutionise spine deformity repair in India. The world's top spine surgeons and medical titans, including Dr Alaaeldin Ahmad, a professor of paediatric orthopaedic and paediatric spine surgery from Palestine; Prof. (Dr) Massimo Balsano, a professor of spine surgery from Italy; Dr Girish Swamy, a spine surgeon from the United Kingdom; and Dr Naveen C. Murali, an anaesthesiologist from Birmingham, who travelled to the City of Joy in Kolkata with Jacqueline Critchley, Cherry, Jadjie Promilda, and Sergio Cecchelli from the United Kingdom. The program is being organized by JIMSH, highlighting that internationally reputed spine surgeons have come together for a cause and conducted complex life-transforming spinal surgeries voluntarily for eleven underprivileged children from around India. Because there are severe spinal deformities including scoliosis left unattended, children would have lived with the prospect of a crippled life; the program answers this imperative need, having scoliosis developing through puberty and deforming all of 33 spinal bones, often requiring a big surgery with high precision, lasting six to ten hours. In giving these surgeries free of charge, JIMSH by the grace of the eminent international medical stalwarts will restore the mobility, dignity, and future of these unfortunate children; such programmes stand not only for the showcase of medical excellence but also advocate strongly for equal access to world-class healthcare for disease-affected children.
