News Desk, News Nation 360 : Developed in partnership with Bangalore-based Behaviour Momentum India (BMI), India's premier institute for Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), Desun Hospital in Kolkata is getting ready to open the first hospital-based Autism & Neurodevelopment Support Centre in Eastern India. This is a groundbreaking step for neurodevelopmental care in the region. Shaoli Dutta, Group Director, Desun Hospitals, stated that this is a new direction for healthcare in the area, not merely a new department for their hospital. They are providing evidence-based early intervention to families who have long required timely, easily available support, many for the first time, by integrating ABA into a hospital ecosystem. Autism Spectrum

Disorder (ASD) is a developmental disorder of communication, behaviour, and social interaction, with very varied presentations. The World Health Organisation estimates that there are around 1 in 100 children worldwide diagnosed with autism. Desun Hospital is unveiling a major healthcare initiative for West Bengal by incorporating international standards of autism intervention into its medical framework, a first for a hospital in the region. Desun's autism therapy centre will be situated within 250 meters of Desun Hospital to provide direct access to multidisciplinary support services like paediatrics, emergency, diagnostics, and therapy units, which will be particularly helpful for children with other medical requirements. The recruitment process for Assistant Behaviour Technicians (ABTs) has started from the first phase on May 17, 2025, beginning in Mahishadal in East Midnapore. This program is looking for empathetic people who will be formally trained in early behavioural intervention to work with children with autism.
