News Desk, News Nation 360 : Medica Superspecialty Hospital (part of the Manipal Hospitals Network), one of Eastern India's leading healthcare facilities, sponsored a deeply emotional Bladder Cancer Survivors' Meet. Survivors, carers, doctors, and healthcare professionals gathered for a moving celebration of perseverance, healing, and awareness. Personal stories of fortitude and perseverance served as the event's emotional high point. Maitrayee Mukherjee and her son, Kaustav Mukherjee, family members of the late Gautam Mukherjee, presented their moving story of courage during his lengthy struggle with cancer. Sreejita Das, the late Beauty Das' daughter, also shared her touching experience, reminiscing on her mother's valiant battle with bladder cancer. This particular meeting honoured not just individuals who heroically battled bladder cancer and emerged victorious, but also the primary carers of those who passed away—a reminder that they are not alone in their journey of loss and healing. The initiative aims to increase public awareness of bladder cancer, one of India's most under-recognised urological cancers. In his speech, Dr. Abhay Kumar, Head of Urology & Specialist in Uro-Oncosurgery and Robotic Surgery, Medica Superspecialty Hospital (A part of Manipal Hospitals Network), stated that bladder cancer is frequently ignored, resulting in delayed diagnosis and difficult treatment options. To achieve the greatest results, they have focused on combining cutting-edge technology with patient-centred care. Robotic surgery has significantly increased precision and recovery time for its patients. They hope that by hosting events like this, they may clarify myths and encourage timely medical attention. They also have a bladder cancer support group, which they launched in 2023.
