News Desk, News Nation 360 : Prof. (Dr.) Subir Ganguly, Senior Consultant, Advisor, Radiation Oncology, stated that Cancer care must address the mind and spirit in addition to the body. "Rongo Byango" allowed their survivors to accomplish something remarkable. They turned their suffering into strength. It was very touching to see them retake the stage with such dignity and power. Initiatives like these demonstrate how creativity, empathy, and resilience can unite to inspire and uplift patients and carers alike, reflecting Medica's belief that healing is holistic. Medica Superspecialty Hospital & Medica Oncology, part of Manipal Hospitals Network, collaborated with Ashokenagar Natyaanan, a theatre group from Kolkata. They held a special drama enacted by champions of cancer at Kala Mandir. The title of the drama was "Rongo Byango." It was rooted in five short plays by Rabindranath Tagore. It was directed by noted thespian Chandan Sen. The Tagore plays that were adapted were 'Arja Anarja,' 'Nutan Abatar,' 'Antoshti Sotkar,' 'Orosiker Swargoprapti,' and 'Swargiyo Prahasan.' The title of this moving theatre production was 'Ebhabeo Phire Asa Jaay.' The play united cancer survivors in an impactful performance. This performance had both laughter and sadness. It was a celebration of hope and the many nuances of life after

cancer. Apart from the cancer survivors, other performers in the play were noted thespians such as Phalguni Chatterjee, Shantilal Mukherjee, Masood Akhtar, and Rwitobroto Mukherjee. Actors in Ashokenagar Natyaanan also joined. Senior physicians from Medica Oncology also joined hands. Prof. (Dr.) Subir Ganguly, Senior Consultant & Advisor, Radiation Oncology, and Dr. Sourav Datta, Director, Medica Oncology & Senior Consultant, Head and Neck Oncosurgery, and other dignitaries were part of the remarkable event. Cancer's effects run deep and far. But when darkness envelops us, the spirit of man manages to illuminate the road to healing. Survival requires struggling against cancer. It also means overcoming emotional and psychological hurdles. Recent data from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) indicates a projected 15.7 lakh cancer cases in India by 2025. This is a rise from 14.6 lakh cases in 2022. Globally, cancer cases are expected to increase to 35 million by 2050. Medica aims to build a community where survivors can gain mental strength from each other's experiences. They can motivate each other on their ongoing journeys. "Rongo Byango" is one such project by Medica. It brought cancer survivors into the limelight. They could write their own motivational stories. They made their journey from struggle to strength, a spectacular performance. The hall was filled with applause as the performers started their first act.
