News Desk. News Nation 360: Using the Da Vinci Surgical System, a multidisciplinary team led by Drs. Tarshid Ali Jahangir and Satyadip Mukherjee have successfully bridged the gap for high-risk Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) patients who were previously ineligible for conventional surgery due to obesity-related complications. This robotic approach minimises wound infections and enables faster recovery, often with patients mobilised within 24 hours, marking a significant clinical milestone. Abhijit C. P., Director at Narayana Health (East), and Group COO R. Venkatesh emphasised that these dual advancements in surgical precision and complex anaesthesia management redefine possibilities for high-risk groups, ensuring that clinical innovation continues to expand access to life-saving treatments in the region. In a parallel breakthrough, the team successfully performed a rare open kidney transplant on a 51-year-old conscious patient using regional anaesthesia after the patient was judged unfit for general anaesthesia.
