Pr.CCIT (NFAC & NaFAC) Conducted an Outreach Program in Kolkata

News Desk, News Nation 360 : Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Jahanzeb Akhtar, spearheaded the outreach program for the National Faceless Assessment Centre (NaFAC) and National Faceless Appeal Centre (NFAC) in New Delhi to engage with stakeholders further, make workflows more streamlined, and further strengthen the Faceless Assessment and Appeal initiative of the Prime Minister, 2020. Jahanzeb Akhtar presented the journey of the Faceless vertical within the Income Tax Department, one of the world's first digitally highly advanced tax administration models using advanced technology such as anonymized case allocation and fully digitalized taxpayer-department interaction. She encouraged the officers and officials of the departments to embrace the scheme, to dispel an outdated way of thinking that upsets taxpayer ease of life and

business. Stressing the protection of the integrity of the Faceless Scheme as an essential part of Indian e-governance initiatives, she reminded them of their mission as honest tax administrators. She explicitly warned that any attempts to breach the confidentiality and anonymity that were intrinsic to the faceless case-handling system would be met with stern action. The event saw presentation and idea articulation by the team of officers from NaFAC and NFAC which included Sarita Kumari, CIT, Arvind Singh, Addl CIT, Sangeeta Yadav, Addl. CIT  bringing together key figures dedicated to enhancing the efficacy of the faceless tax procedure. Shrikant Kumar Ambastha, CCIT for Kolkata Regions 3 and 6, welcomed the outreach program with an opening address that brought in a collaborative atmosphere. Nivedita Biswas, CCIT for Kolkata Regions 4 and 5, also participated, lending her expertise to the discussions. In a session with external stakeholders that included Tax Practitioners Associations, CAs, Advocates, Chambers of Commerce, and Trade Bodies, the Principal CCIT (NFAC & NaFAC) and her team sought direct feedback from them regarding the challenges and issues they had in using the Faceless system. Candid views of the stakeholders and constructive suggestions for improvement were noted. They were also warned against improper attempts to influence the outcomes of faceless income tax proceedings and encouraged to cooperate with the department to improve the system.
