Regional Apprenticeship Day 2026 is Observed by BOPT(ER)

News Desk, News Nation 360: The Board of Practical Training, Eastern Region (BOPT-ER), Kolkata, under the Union Ministry of Education, celebrated the occasion of Regional Apprenticeship Day 2026, with the theme “Empowering MSMEs through NATS: Catalysing Regional Growth through Structured Apprenticeships”. The event emphasised the importance of the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) in providing employability skills to the youth in consonance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Organised by the Director, BOPT(ER), Dr S.M. Ejaz Ahmad, along with Prof. Dr Sadhan Chandra Ray, Hon’ble Member, Board of Governors, R.N. Lahiri, Mizoram University, Vice Chancellor, Mizoram University, Dibakar Chandra Deka, Bihar Higher Education Director, Prof. Dr N. K. Agarwal, Ex-Chairman Shri Sandipan Chakraborty and HR advisor Dr Ratna Sinha. The convention informed that a total of 1,45,449 apprentices were trained by BOPT(ER) during FY 2025-26. Out of these, 1,15,193 could get placements (79% as per NILERD data). By conducting the Apprenticeship-cum-Job Melas regularly, BOPT(ER) has set a target of 1.5 lakh apprentices to be trained during FY 2026-27 to meet the national target of 6 lakh candidates to be trained by all the BOATs/BOPTs to provide trained manpower to the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
