SERVES FOR NATION
News Desk, News Nation 360 : In September, as the nation observed Gynaecological Cancer Awareness Month, Manipal Hospital, EM Bypass, organised an inspiring Survivors' Meet on 8th October under the theme #GOAganistStigma, which focused on raising awareness and combating gynaecological cancers, where Dr Arunava Roy, Senior Consultant and Unit Head of the Department of Gynaecologic Oncology and Women Cancer Initiative, along with Dr Neha Agarwal and Dr Arunashis Mallick, both Consultants of Gynaecologic Onco-Surgery at the hospital, addressed misconceptions, discussed early warning signs, and shared important information on prevention and care, while around 25 cancer survivors courageously shared their journeys and experiences, making the event a meaningful and educational gathering that guided attendees through the understanding, symptoms, and management of gynaecological cancers for better health and well-being. During the meet, Dr Arunava Roy emphasised the necessity of early detection. He indicated that this year, the emphasis is on eradicating fear and apprehension among patients with rapid and easy testing for any patient with symptoms of gynaecological cancer, irrespective of age, and at Manipal Hospitals Kolkata special emphasis is given to robotic and laparoscopic surgeries that facilitate faster recovery for cancer-stricken women and speedy restoration of normalcy to their lives, as the medical team continues to break the myth that cancer is a death sentence by spreading the message that with early diagnosis, regular screening, timely treatment, and empathetic care, cancer can be cured many times, and with a 24x7 professional care team supporting patients and their families at every step, the hospital also emphasizes the need for group awareness, encouraging people to make themselves and their loved ones aware of routine check-ups and screening because early detection not only enhances survival but also enhances the quality of life by providing hope, strength, and the promise of living to the fullest, reaffirming the need for joint commitment towards improved prevention, treatment, and care so that nobody has to combat cancer alone.
