SERVES FOR NATION

News Desk, News Nation 360: Using a special community-driven collaboration between top medical professionals and local schoolchildren, the Academic Council of DM Hospitals successfully held its historic 20th Health Fair on its clinical campus grounds in Thakurpukur, Kolkata, raising public awareness of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). The annual public health outreach program is based on the operational thesis that integrating the youth community is essential to effectively educating everyday households on the primary root causes of chronic kidney disease (CKD), such as uncontrolled diabetes and high blood pressure. It was pioneered under the long-term vision of renowned nephrologist and hospital chairperson Dr Dayanath Mishra, with executive support from Administrative Director Annapurna Mishra. In order to turn these young ambassadors into useful health educators for their local communities, the hospital gives 50 carefully chosen students from participating regional institutions comprehensive technical training before the fair on structural symptom identification, preventative lifestyle modifications, and life-saving Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) techniques. Driven by India's growing systemic burden as the second-highest global pocket for renal disease, the massive public fair effectively offered hundreds of locals free diagnostic screenings and follow-up medical counselling while showcasing the hospital's dedicated emergency infrastructure and its ongoing monthly Continuing Medical Education (CME) seminars intended to significantly reduce regional diagnostic entry barriers and promote early healthcare intervention throughout the community.
