The Hidden Moon: An Exhibition of Kartick Chandra Pyne's Artworks Presented by KCC

Kartick Pyne (1931–2017) was a fellow Indian modernist traveller and prolific painter. His paintings depict a complex, vividly colourful amazing visual universe where the real and the imagined are intimately entwined. They are greatly influenced by Western modern art and art movements as well as local vernacular cultures, faith, and narratives. scholarly interest. As an arts-and-culture organisation, it seems to them crucial to focus attention not only on familiar figures but also on artists whose talents await wider notice. In 2021, they held a large exhibition based on detailed archival research—the first extensive attempt following his death in 2017—to introduce his work to a broader audience. The exhibition was a success, but ongoing efforts are required to ensure access to his artwork and provide opportunities for meaningful debate. She is pleased that Victoria Memorial Hall is co-working with them to host a solo show of Kartick Pyne's art. This will provide both fans and new crowds an opportunity to see and enjoy his work when they are at the museum. By examining mythology and spirituality through contemporary lenses, Pyne reinterprets national identity in the post-independence era.
