SERVES FOR NATION

News Desk. News Nation 360: BHIM Payments App, developed by NPCI BHIM Services Limited (NBSL), registered stellar national growth in FY26 as total transaction volumes surged by 301% compared to FY25, tripling from 5.93 crore in April 2025 to 21.6 crore in March 2026 before carrying the momentum into April 2026 with 22.49 crore transactions valued at ₹26,040 crore. Mirroring this national expansion, West Bengal witnessed a massive integration of the platform into everyday life, with 71% of its transactions driven by peer-to-merchant (P2M) payments led by groceries (22.5%), dining and restaurants (18.7%), and quick commerce (6.4%). Optimised for low-connectivity environments and supporting over 15 regional languages, including Bengali, the inclusive application has rolled out several advanced features, such as UPI Circle (enabling full delegation of up to ₹15,000 to dependents without a separate bank account), UPI Lite Auto-Top Up (automatically recharging the wallet when the balance drops below ₹200), forex booking with multi-bank markup comparisons, and expense-splitting capabilities. NBSL MD & CEO Lalitha Nataraj highlighted that this robust adoption across diverse consumer brackets underscores the growing trust in a platform built for the masses, which is further amplified by reward-led incentives and innovative payment options like RuPay Credit Card on UPI.
